Guild Rules

Behavior Rules:
  1. Guild Communications: No cursing in chat, whispers, forum posts, or Voice Chat/Ventrilo. That includes sexist or racist language as well. There are women, children and people of many cultures listening so keep it to yourself. Also, you are a representative of our guild and should be polite at all times to other players, Death Knight or not, since your actions reflect on all of us, not just yourself.
  2. No Politics, Religion, or Sports: This is a social organization which thrives on loyalty and cohesion. Politics and Religion are DIVISIVE and THE source of strife for all mankind since civilization began. Sports loyalties are divisive as well. Casual discussions are OK, hate is NOT.
  3. Pulling Rank: No officer is to make decisions on disciplinary actions without warnings being issued and first discussing it with other officers. No goof promotions, demotions, /gkick and /gquit horseplay.
  4. Guild Loyalty: Do not participate in PUG raids or with other guilds unless you have asked permission before getting saved. Exceptions to this rule are old raid instances that we are not actively pursuing. Do not apply to other guilds unless you want a /gkick. If you want to sew your oats elsewhere, discuss it with the officers first, and we can remain amiable.

Raid Participation, DKP and General Loot Rules:
  1. Sign-up: Invite priority is to those that have signed up using the in-game calendar. Don't expect an invite if you don't. You can still get in on the raid but you will be on the waiting list if the raid is full.
  2. Be Prepared: Your gear is fully repaired. You have pots, flasks, reagents, food, bandages fully stocked in your bags. You've done your homework for boss strategies. Know what's in your bags before the pull and don't hesitate to ask the raid ahead of time, we have lots of alchemists and many players pack heavy with all manner of supplies.
  3. Take care of RL: Family is fed, you are fed, caffeine supplies are at the ready. Raids can go three hours plus. Don't come if you can't give one hour. If you know you have to leave, tell the raid at the start.
  4. Take care of PC: Your wireless mouse and keyboard batteries are charged, your monitor is clean, you have WoW running smooth and all your addons you need to raid are loaded. (see Downloads Guide)
  5. PvP Flagged: Blizz fixed this, you will be unflagged when you enter a raid instance. Be warned however that if you get summoned to the stone flagged you might find yourself at the graveyard instead of the raid.
  6. Loot Motto: 'Speak now or forever hold your peace': After a boss is downed, the loot shall be announced to the raid by the Master Looter (ML) and those interested should announce this interest clearly in raid chat. The ML will use DKP to make the majority of his decisions though open rolls may be employed. Loot recipients are to be announced to the raid before the master looter issues the item. The ML should make reasonable effort to assure the raid approves the decision. Any strong objections are to be resolved by rolls, DKP bargaining, etc. Regardless, the DKP issued to the raid shall be accounted for normally. No further discussion about it shall continue and everyone should be happy for the successful downing of the boss for the good of the team. STFU. Try and avoid displays of moodiness.
  7. DKP: DKP stands for 'Dragon Kill Point' and originates from the Ye Olde Everquest days. It is there to provide a reward system separate from item drops and rewards participation rather than luck of the dice or favoritism. It also provides a system by which loot is distributed evenly to participants over time. Some prudent overrides may occur but the DKP accounts for this so the 'economics' still works out over time.
In WoW, the bosses of 25man raids drop better and more numerous items commensurate with their difficulty. All items in WoW bear an item level which is separate from the required level. This internal number determines how many points go into stat buffs etc, so it is reasonable to say that very different items of the same item level have the same value regardless of player class or item slot. This is normally a hidden value but is displayed in the armory and WoW search engines, and by addons such as 'Informant' which is part of the 'Auctioneer package'. The item level total is constant for the bosses we have observed therefore our system is consistent with how Blizzard hands out loot. DKP is a function of this value, Item Price = Item Level, DKP Earned = sum(Item Prices)/Number of players. The prices for items are displayed under Item Prices and Items Received listed under the DKP menu to the left. This is not a complete list but is initialized for the raids we are pursuing.
For example: Sartharion(H) drops 2x Tier 7 Glove Tokens and 2 level 213 items. 213X4 = 852, 852/25 people in the Raid = 34.08 DKP credit for the kill.
  8. DKP Standings: This is a modified Zero-Sum DKP system meaning that you can and will go into the negative but it is only relative score that matters. As a general rule, barring vendoring or disenchanting of items or players leaving the system, the number of points earned and spent are more or less equal and the sum of all player balances is Zero, hence the name. DKP is earned and later spent at the discretion of the player can be accumulated in order to build standing. DKP caps are not employed but may be at a later time. Note that DKP is credited after a raid, therefore your standing remains the same throughout a multi-boss raid when you have not received an item. However, DKP spending is immediate, therefore if the raid continues to another boss after you receive an item, your DKP standing is that with the points already deducted.
  9. DKP Bidding and Bargaining: Prices are largely fixed. The player with the higher balance has the right of first refusal. If two interested players are close to equal in DKP balance, then the item should be rolled for. A player may offer additional DKP to acquire the item to get player with the higher DKP balance to agree to pass. The excess DKP is distributed to the raid.
  10. Unwanted Items & DKP: There will be items that drop that people will not want to sacrifice DKP in order to receive them and some of these will be disenchanted or sold for gold to vendors. This is unfortunate and sometimes to avoid this, an item will go to a player who can use it 'off spec' for a discounted amount of DKP. 'Off-Spec' means that this gear would not be part of your normal raid set of gear. Items that would be worn while raiding, and are therefore upgrades, should be paid for. In any event, the remaining DKP value will be deducted from 'DKP-Phantom' which is a dummy character on the list which will maintain the 'Zero-Sum' Balance.
  11. New Players Entering the DKP System: New Players entering the DKP roster enter at ZERO. This means they are ranked above players in the negative. This is fair in that you can only be in the negative if you have already received items.
  12. Guests in Raids: We will from time to time employ the aid of those outside of our guild to fill roles that we are missing people for. DKP will be earned by these characters and DKP will be spent as if they were a member. Should they choose to later join our guild, since successful raids are a powerful recruiting force, then the balances remain in place. Periodically, the DKP administrator will 'do the books' and perhaps purge one of these characters from the records and the resulting DKP credit distributed to the members of those particular raids and any expense placed onto DKP-Phantom.
  13. Players Leaving the DKP System: Players leave the DKP roster when they /gquit and their balances are zeroed. If they leave with negative balances they are to be frowned upon, as if they owe us money. If a former member rejoins the system, negative balances remain, positive balances do not.
  14. DKP System Adjustments: The DKP Administrator may make system wide adjustments to re-balance the books. These adjustments will not affect standing.
  15. DKP Transfers: The DKP system is tracked by character, not player. When a player has two or more raiding alts, DKP can be transferred from one character to another in a separate transaction outside of raid time. It is that player's responsibility to watch their own balances. Player to Player transfers are not allowed as it would introduce favoritism/politics into the system and possibly cause strife.
  16. DKP System Purges: The DKP System is blanked when significant game events occur such as an expansion or when the guild is moving on to higher level raids. These events occur at the discretion of the GM and officers. All Player Balances return to zero.
  17. DKP System Summary: The DKP System is an automated sorted list of names and establishes priority for loot distribution. A player should not regard it as money or what they have 'earned'. It is a ranking system, not a bank balance. Those at the top of the list are there because they have participated consistently and taken very little out. Those at the bottom are either not participating enough or taking too much gear. Raids should not be treated as shopping trips but an opportunity to experience new content and/or improve your game. Loot just furthers this by improving the raid's performance as a whole. Socialism!
